GRANDMA B'S MEAT SAUCE

from Scott Reeves of the duo Blue County
This recipe comes from Scott's mother-in-law
Ingredients:
Olive oil, enough to coat the bottom of your pot
½ onion, chopped
½ clove elephant garlic, chopped (it has to be elephant garlic)
2 lbs ground sirloin (sirloin is the key because it is lean)
2 or 3 (28 oz) cans crushed tomatoes with no added seasonings
¼ teaspoon sugar
Pasta of your choice

Directions:

1.  Coat bottom of pot with olive oil, about 1/4 inch. Brown onion and garlic until dark brown, avoid burning.  Instead of stirring, swirl the pot on the burner.

2.  Add sirloin and brown. Drain excess liquid if necessary.

3.  Add tomatoes (as much as you need to achieve the sauce consistency that you like) and add sugar. Simmer until heated through.

4.  Serve with bread or pasta...or both!
