CHEESEBURGER PIZZA

For the crust:
Ingredients:
1 packet dry yeast, regular or quick rise
1 cup warm water
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
2½ to 3 cups all purpose flour or whole wheat flour
salt to taste (optional)
1 can tomato sauce, using as much or as little as you prefer
 
Directions:


1.  Place yeast in a bowl and add warm water, dissolving yeast completely.

2.  Add oil and stir. Gradually add flour, stirring until combined. Flour your hands and knead the dough until smooth.

3.  Lightly flour a pastry board or any work space and roll or press dough to the size of your pizza pan. Lightly grease the pizza pan before placing the dough on it.

4.  With your fingers or a spoon, spread some of the tomato sauce on top of the pizza dough. Make your topping.

For the topping:
Ingredients:
1½ pounds hamburger
1/3 cup diced onion
salt and pepper to taste
American cheese slices (or any cheese of your choice)
Directions:


Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

1.  Brown onion and meat in a large skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Drain grease from meat.

2.  Place meat/onion mixture on top of pizza dough that has been spread with tomato sauce. Bake in a 425 degree oven for 15 minutes.

3.  Remove pizza and add cheese slices to cover the top. Return to oven and bake until the cheese melts. 

***NOTE: Lorianne made a Veggie Pizza by using whole wheat flour for the crust and topping the pizza with sliced fresh green, red, and yellow bell peppers, sliced mushrooms, black olives, and parmesan cheese.
