CAMPSITE BEEF STROGANOFF

from Cast-Iron Cooking for Dummies
As prepared by: RIDERS IN THE SKY
Ingredients:
2 pounds extra lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt (Ranger Doug added more)
1 1/2 cups water
3 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce
1 teaspoon Worchestershire sauce
1/2 cup sour cream
1 bag (12 ounces) egg noodles
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
1. Brown together the meat, onion, celery salt, garlic salt, and salt & pepper in a 12 inch cast iron camp oven.

2. While the meat is browning, mix together the water, tomato sauce, Worchestershire sauce, and sour cream in a medium bowl. (The sour cream won't completely blend and there will be some lumps, but those will disappear during cooking).

3. When the meat and onion mixture is browned, spread the noodles evenly over the meat mixture. Pour the liquid mixture evenly over the noodles to moisten all the noodles well.

4. Cover with the lid and cook for approximately 30 to 45 minutes, or until the noodles are fully cooked.
