BROCCOLI CHEESE CASSEROLE

Made with the staple of our nation...Cream of Mushroom Soup!
Ingredients:
10 ounces frozen broccoli, thawed
½ cup chopped onion
½ cup celery, chopped chunky
10 oz. jar Cheese Whiz
1 can cream of mushroom soup
¼ cup melted butter
1 cup rice, uncooked
1 cup water
 
Directions:


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

1.  In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well.

2.  Grease a 9 x 12 shallow glass baking dish. Spread the mixture evenly in the pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes, until the sides are turning golden brown.

NOTE: Alison suggests that you use the shallow baking dish rather than a tall-sided casserole dish. The shallow dish allows the ingredients to set more firmly into a hearty casserole. We found that Alison is exactly right about this! Our casserole baked in the smaller, taller dish was runny. Alison's casserole baked in the shallow dish was perfect!
